Atelier's PECONIC ARTIST RETREAT - June 20th to the 24th, 2008
Join other Plein Air Artists
at Silver Sands Motel & Cottages, in beautiful Greenport, New York for the Peconic Artist Retreat this June. Aside from enjoying days of painting on the North Fork, participants will have an opportunity to submit their work for the Fall 2008 show at Atelier Gallery entitled:
"The Best of the Peconic Artist Retreat"
Draw inspiration from some of the most beautiful scenes on the North Fork, at the eastern tip of Long Island, known for its wonderful light, beaches, farms, vineyard, parks and quaint historic
seafaring towns.
Take a sail or tour of Greenport Harbor, shop in area boutiques, have a massage to rest up after a long day of painting.
Tour the North Fork Vineyards, where some of the finest wines are available for sampling, and find fresh produce from local farms at roadside farmstands.
Join your colleagues for the Candlelight Dinner in the Boathouse on the last evening of the retreat, as you share your paintings, techniques and experience.
This is the retreat where you re-charge your creative batteries, paint to your hearts content, and soak in the beauty and hospitality of the historic artist destination: the Village of Greenport.
Bring your easel, canvas and paints. Spend your time painting, resting, reading, or with other artists at some of the scheduled classes, tours, etc.
The Silver Sands Motel & Cottages is located on the shore of Peconic Bay, with scenic views of Shelter Island. The Silver Sands historic Boathouse will be where we gather to learn, laugh, relax and share our talent and experience.
Take the Hampton Jitney or the Long Island Railroad from Manhattan to Greenport, we will pick you up at the station, and bring you directly to your room at the Silver Sands.
Retreat Schedule: (Classes are optional)
Day 1 Friday, June 20
Afternoon -
2 - 6 pm Register and settle in
Evening - 7 pm Get Together in the Boathouse:
Handouts distributed (Retreat Schedule, map of the North Fork, parking sticker, where to eat, shops & facilities in Greenport and surrounding area. Greenport Gallery Walk map. Contacts for local licensed massage therapists, etc.)
Slideshow, North Fork areas for plein air painting
Meet the Instructors and other artists, Discuss the planned events, weather & any changes to schedule. Who needs a ride, who can offer a ride? Any questions?
Day 2 Saturday, June 21
Morning - Plein air Painting on your own
Afternoon - Plein Air Painting Workshop with Instructor jada rowland ($85)
Evening- Dinner on your own
6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Greenport Gallery Walk
Day 3 Sunday, June 22
Morning - Plein air painting on your own
Afternoon Watercolor Class with Instructor Hector deCordova ($70)
Evening - Dinner on your own
7:00 pm Painting from Life in the Boathouse with professional model ($35)
Day 4 Monday, June 23
Morning - Plein air painting on your own
10am to 5pm - Reduction Lino Class & Workshop, Greenport Studio of Caroline Waloski. Maximum 5 students, minimum 3. ($90)
Evening - Candlelight Catered Dinner in the Boathouse (BYOB), display your Peconic paintings and share experiences. Local Artists and Greenport Gallery Owners will be joining us!
Day 5 Tuesday, June 24
Morning - Free time, Boathouse Open for coffee and cake
Evaluate the Retreat, give us your suggestions
Afternoon - Check out and say Goodbye!
